Belinda Peregrín
Schüll
Belinda Peregrín Schüll was born in the
city of Madrid, Spain on August 15, 1989. She was born to her
Spanish father, Ignacio Peregrín and her French mother, Belinda
Schüll. Belinda also has a younger brother named Ignacio. The family
decided to move to Mexico in 1993 and still resides there today.
At a very early age, Belinda demonstrated that she had rare talent
in the areas of singing and acting. Beginning her acting career at
only ten years of age, it soon become apparent not only to her
family, but to the media as well, that they had a future star on
their hands.
She stared in her first television series called, ˇAmigos X Siempre!,
and even contributed to the soundtrack of the show. From her early
success in television, Belinda landed an even bigger role starring
in the children’s telenovela entitled, Cómplices Al Rescate. This
show quickly became popular throughout Mexico. In this television
series, she played identical twins, which were separated at birth.
Again, she composed the soundtrack for this series and it even
earned her, her first Latin Grammy nomination for her musical
contribution.

In 2006, Belinda essentially entered the international scene when
she played the role of Marisol, in the Disney Channel Original Movie
The Cheetah Girls 2. She contributed once again to the soundtrack of
this movie, with four titles. In August of 2006, the soundtrack of
The Cheetah Girls 2 debuted at the number five spot on the United
States Billboard 200. To date, the soundtrack has sold close to a
million and a half copies.
Belinda has not only thrived as a popular Mexican actress, but she
has also crossed over into the music world and has been equally
successful. In August of 2003, Belinda, released her first
self-titled album, Belinda. It was extremely popular worldwide and
even more so in her home country of Mexico. Two years later, in
2005, she worked together with the Mexican rock band called
Moderatto on their single Muriendo Lento, which also became quite
popular. Her second album entitled Utopía, debuted in 2006. The 2007
Latin Grammy Awards nominated her for both the ‘Song of the Year’
and ‘Best Female Pop Album’ categories. Belinda took home two MTV
Music Awards Latinoamerica in 2007 for the ‘Video of Year’ category
and for the ‘Best Solo Artist’ category. Recently in the news came
word of Belinda’s latest album release, Carpe Diem. It is scheduled
to be released in February of 2010. Currently, the only albums
available by Belinda are the albums titled Belinda and Belinda
Enhanced.
This talented Mexican actress, singer and songwriter has already
been making international waves for some years now. Not only has
Belinda played main roles in various television series, but she has
been her own shining star in the music industry. She has been both
nominated and has received many awards in the film and music
industry. It is certain that we will be seeing much more of Belinda
Peregrín Schüll sooner than later.
